Dr. James G. Scelfo was born and raised in New Iberia, Louisiana
as the youngest of eight children to Sam and Sidney Mae Scelfo.
As the son of a football coach and a high school teacher, he was
raised in a small town environment with a strong sense of family
and community. Through Personalized Primary Care, he is bringing
these ideals to the health care community of Celebration and Central
Florida.
Dr. Scelfo graduated from Northeast Louisiana University and Louisiana
State University Medical Center. He completed his medical training
in Orlando with a special interest in family medicine. Dr. Scelfo
is an active member of the American Medical Association (AMA),
American Academy of Family Practice (AAFP), Florida Academy of
Family Practice (FAFP) and the American College of Sports Medicine
(ACSM). He is currently the Medical Director of the Disney Marathon
and works with numerous Disney sports and performance groups to
provide medical coverage for the teams and their staff along with game time coverage for events such as the Gridiron Classic, the Capital One Bowl and the Champs Sport Bowl.
He is also a medical consultant with the local NBC affiliate,
WESH Channel 2, WB's Daily Buzz and in addition he serves as the
medical director for the cholestrol & coumadin
clinics at Florida Hospital Celebration Health. Dr. Scelfo remains
on the cutting edge of medical technology to focus on prevention,
diagnosis and management of disease. In his free time, Dr. Scelfo
maintains an active lifestyle and enjoys jogging, cycling, reading
and playing a poor game of golf.
