"Dr. James Scelfo has worked with me for much of the past decade.
His dedication to a very personal form of medical care has long
been apparent to me. His dedication to seeing his patients through
their troubles from beginning to end is a fundamental part of his
commitment to the highest quality of medical practice. In a time
where it is the custom to use "Physician Extenders" to increase
the volume of patient traffic in so many offices his patients can
depend on actually seeing the doctor and seeing him in a timely
manner. He believes that your time is as valuable as his so his
schedules will provide for a realistic flow of patients, providing
each of them the time to really communicate with their doctor. Doctor
Scelfo is well connected with the best medical specialists in Florida
and has the ready ability to make appropriate referrals when necessary.
In addition he has access to true state of the art medical technology
located near his office in the heart of the celebration health and
technology campus. His personal medical and expertise and caring
personal approach to the practice of medicine will remind his patients
of a gentler time in the field of medicine when a person’s doctor
was truly their personal physician."

quoted by Rippe Health Assessment Senior Medical Director at Celebration
Health

"I asked the people at the Rippe Assessment for a suggestion for
a primary care physician. They recommended Dr. James G. Scelfo.
At our very first consultation Mrs. Gordon and I were greatly pleased with
Dr. Scelfo's friendly, kind, and caring attitude. This combined with his knowledge
and professional approach, as well as his aggressive determination to keep
us healthy, convinced us that we had happily found our new primary care physician!
"On that first visit; Dr. Scelfo followed up on the results of the
Rippe Assessment findings. In my case, because of my family history
of heart problems, he and Dr. Salah W. Din, a cardiologist who does
part of his work at Celebration Health, put me through a number
of heart tests over a period of time. They concluded by what the
test showed, along with knowledge of my vigorous work and travel
schedule, in addition to the energy that I had as a 67 year old
man, that my heart was functioning adequately; however, with my
family history of heart trouble they decided it would be wise to
put me through the ultimate heart test - a heart cath. They were
both shocked that the artery supplying blood to the left ventricle
of the heart was 85% occluded. This artery has been nicknamed "The
Widow Maker". This is one example of why I am so pleased with Dr.
Scelfo as our family doctor because of the fact that he recommended
and it was carried through that I was given double bypass heart
surgery. You can see by the experience I just related that Dr.
Scelfo and Dr. Din saved my life.
"After finding out that Mrs. Gordon and I were married for 47 1/2
years, he made the comment, 'I am going to help keep you healthy
so that I can have an invitation to your 75th wedding anniversary.'
"Mrs. Gordon and I are extremely pleased to give Dr. Scelfo our
enthusiastic recommendation!"

The day that I knew there had to be a better
alternative to the frenzied and overwhelmed traditional medical
practice was the comment that I received from the last doctor I
visited to try and get to the root of what turned out to be a fairly
simple medical problem that I was having. After spending over an
hour in the waiting room, I finally got in to see the doctor. As
I handed him a list of the symptoms I had experienced in the last
few months (I was tired of explaining it over and over again each
time I got in to see a doctor), his comment was, “I don’t
have time to read this, I can only spend four minutes with you
and then I am on to my next patient.”
After choosing Dr. Scelfo as my primary physician, I can say without
hesitation that it has literally changed my life and my health.
For my family and I, this is medicine the way it should be. When
I hear friends complain about getting an appointment with their
doctor or not being able to reach him/her with questions, I let
them know about Dr. Scelfo. We are able to get an appointment the
same day we call and we have access to him by phone whenever we
need him. With two kids and a full time job, it is such a benefit
to have that kind of immediate access and information when you
need it. More than just being at ease knowing that your doctor
is just a phone call away, the level of care that our family has
received is beyond compare to anything we have ever experienced.
We see him when we need to, we speak directly to him when there
are any questions or issues and he knows our medical history better
than any doctor we have ever been associated with. The kids love
him too, which says a lot when they know he is either giving them
a shot or he’s
taking their blood! When our son busted his head playing basketball,
we by-passed the four hour wait in the emergency room and called
Dr. Scelfo. Forty minutes from the time he had his mishap, he was
back home eating ice-cream with three stitches in his head.
Every friend that I have referred has had the same experience.
They marvel at the convenience and are amazed at the level of care
and attention, and say they could never go back to a traditional
practice. I would agree whole heartedly—our health is too
important. There are no words strong enough to endorse what Dr.
Scelfo is doing with his approach to medicine. Having personal
access to a top-notch physician and the appropriate amount of time
with him when we go in for a visit, gives our family the best medical
care that is available. I have seen it make a difference in our
lives and the lives of my family and friends. This is truly the
way medicine should be.

We moved to Celebration from Ann Arbor, Michigan,
home of one of the best medical schools in the country. We had been
used to having highly competent professionals close at hand if we
needed them. Consequently, one of our reservations about moving
to central Florida had been finding reliable, skilled physicians
if we needed them. I had resigned myself to the possibility that
I’d return to the University of Michigan for periodic check-ups
and any critical procedures.
Finding Dr. Scelfo has changed all that. It’s reassuring to
know that there’s a highly capable doctor right here in town,
one who is familiar with our entire medical histories and conditions,
someone who takes the time to explain things in clear terms that
we can understand. How comforting it is to know that someone competent
is available almost immediately if necessary, without the anxiety
of dealing with impersonal answering services or hearing that the
doctor’s first available appointment is in two weeks. Some
of our friends thought we were kind of wacky to pay an upfront annual
membership fee, but the thorough physical exams, ongoing phone access,
and personal attention are well worth the money.
Dr. Scelfo’s easy manner and reliable accessibility are quite
in harmony with the character of our new home town.
And now our trips back to Ann Arbor won’t have to include
visits to the doctor!
